Panels

When should I upgrade a panel?

We recommend replacing your panel immediately if you have a Zinsco, Federal Pacific, or Pushmatic panel. These brands are now considered hazardous due to known safety issues and an increased risk of fire. It’s also a smart idea to replace your panel if it’s 25 years or older, especially if you notice warning signs such as:

  • Frequently tripped breakers
  • Flickering lights
  • Breakers that won’t reset or feel hot to the touch
  • Burn marks or buzzing sounds coming from the panel

If you’re planning a major remodel, adding solar panels, an EV charger, or a central A/C system, it’s time to consider upgrading from a 100 amp to a 200 amp panel. This ensures your home can safely handle larger electrical loads and future expansion.

What does panel installation entail?

On installation day, your licensed electrician will arrive between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM to begin removing your old panel. During this process, your power will be temporarily shut off for approximately 5 to 7 hours, but don’t worry — we guarantee you'll be fully powered back on by 5:00 PM, just in time for dinner!

Once the new panel is installed, we’ll schedule a rough electrical inspection with your local city. After it passes, weatherproofing is applied to seal the exterior. Next comes lath inspection, followed by your final electrical inspection. Once everything is approved, we’ll coordinate stucco patching to restore the wall — and just like that, the job is complete!

We handle all scheduling and permits, so you can relax while we take care of everything from start to finish.
